Mablethorpe man is jailed for 12-months

A Mablethorpe man who encouraged a 13-year-old girl to send him naked photos of herself via the internet was jailed for 12 months on Monday (August 3).

Daniel Platten, 23, who worked at at a bar in Sutton on Sea, admitted talking to the girl on Facebook and exchanging images with her on Snapchat.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Platten began by “winking” at the girl and then had conversations with her on the internet

Stephen Coupland, prosecuting, said Platten knew the girl’s age but still had regular conversations with her on Facebook.

Mr Coupland told the court Platten sent the girl naked photos of himself and in return she sent him five or six naked images which she took using a mirror.

Concerns were raised when the girl spoke to school friends but Platten remained silent when he was questioned by the police.

In a victim impact statement which was read out in court, the girl who can not be named for legal reasons, said that she had been hurt by Platten’s actions which were wrong.

She said: “I was a teenager, he was a grown up.”

Platten, 23, of Sandringham Drive, Mablethorpe, pleaded guilty to a single charge of causing a 13-year-old girl to be involved with pornography.

Passing sentence Judge John Pini QC told him: “This is a very serious offence. You were 23 at the time you were contacting this young girl.
