Convicted rapist went online to groom schoolgirl for sexual activity
A convicted rapist who believed he was grooming multiple schoolgirls online has been jailed
David Lewis of St Austell, appeared at court where he was sentenced for a number of sexual offences involving online grooming.
Lewis had contacted the online profiles of several girls he believed were underage.
He sent a string of sexual messages which clear intent of engaging the girls into sexual activity.
However, the girls did not exist and were instead members of paedophile hunting teams ‘Totnes Justice’ and ‘No more silent voices UK’
The teams confronted Lewis in St Austell where they questioned him on his internet activity. It was at this time that the teams learnt that Lewis had infact previously served a seven year sentence for the rape of a female.
The police were called and he was arrested.
The judge handed Lewis four years imprisonment
A sexual harm prevention order for ten years was imposed and he was told to register as a sex offender for life
