Pervert snared in Govanhill home after sending explicit photo to ‘underage girl’
A pervert snared by a paedophile hunting group has been jailed
Frank Cook believed he had been chatting to a 13 year-old girl called “Katie” via the Waplog app between March and May last year.
The 66 year-old claimed he was only 28 – and also sent an explicit photo.
But, he was instead chatting to a member of a paedophile hunting team Angels of Innocence
They went on to confront the OAP at his then home in Glasgow’s Govanhill before police were alerted.
Cook admitted contacting who he believed was a 13 year-old girl and sending an indecent image online.
Prosecutor Lauren McRobert told Glasgow Sheriff Court Cook had lied about his age to “Katie”.
She added: “Cook discussed sex and he described it as normal
“But, he later asked her to delete the conversation.”
During the live sting Cook was asked why he had told the girl that he loved her. His reply was that he had fallen in love with the girl.
Cook was in contact with “Katie” for around six weeks.
He was eventually met by members of paedophile hunting team Wolfpack, who live-streamed the confrontation online.
Miss McRobert: “Cook said he didn’t know what to say and that he was sorry.”
The pervert, now of the city’s Craigend, was held by police.
He then whined: “The only thing I can say is that I was set up.”
Cook was sentenced to 16 months custodial sentence and was told that he must register as a sex offender for ten years
