Paedophile ‘plied underage girl with drink and drugs, then had sex with her’

A man has been jailed after plying an underage girl with alcohol and cannabis before having sex with her.

Aaron Pollard, 23, of Gorseinon in Swansea, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child sometime between February 18 and February 21, 2018, at Swansea Crown Court.

Prosecutor Ian Wright said: “The defendant was 22 at the time and had been giving alcohol to the victim and smoking cannabis with her.

“As she tried to get to sleep he kept her awake, and it led to sex.

“Afterwards, he suggested she not tell anyone.

“He was later arrested and gave a no comment interview. Scientific evidence was obtained from clothing which found evidence of sexual activity.”

Judge Peter Heywood said: “You gave her alcohol to facilitate this offence and both of you smoked cannabis disinhibiting you and your behaviour.

“You pestered her when she was trying to get to sleep and it culminated in you removing her bottoms and knickers and having sex with her. That, in my view, is a serious offence.

“There was a significant disparity in your ages, and to some extent has to be measured by your limited cognitive ability.

“Although you might have been 22 at the time, your mental age is probably lower than that.”

Pollard was jailed for 27 months, and a restraining order was made against him contacting the victim for 10 years.

He must sign the sex offenders’ register, and a sexual offences prevention order was also been made for a decade.
