Teenager molested young girl

A teenager who molested a young girl also pleaded guilty to 10,000 indecent images of children on the first day of his trial

Bailey Stanley will now serve two years and three months in youth custody after a jury found him guilty of sexual assault of a child by penetration.

Bristol Crown Court heard he had sat next to the child on a sofa.

The child told her mum Stanley put his hand inside her underwear and touched her inappropriately.

But when challenged, he said: “I was scratching a pimple on my back and I may have touched her accidentally.”

On the day of his trial, the 19-year-old, of Bramley Wood Road in Weston-super-Mare, also pleaded guilty to making and possessing some 10,000 indecent images of children.

The Recorder Ms Rosaleen Collins told the court yesterday (March 12) she recognized Stanley would be more vulnerable than most people in detention, but he had not cooperated in any “meaningful way” with a probation report or showed remorse.

She said: “I take no joy from sending you to a custodial sentence.

“I have no doubt you will find it difficult.

“I have been as lenient as I can.”

Stanley was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, designed to stop him re-offending, for ten years.

He was also told to register as a sex offender for ten years.

His computer equipment was forfeited.
