Man sentenced for sexual abuse of two girls
A man who sexually abused two girls over two decades has been sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court.
Ray Sadler, 86 (02.01.33) of Percy Road, Bexleyheath pleaded guilty on the 7 January at Bromley Magistrates’ Court to ten counts of indecent assault on two girls aged under 16.
At Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, 8 March, Sadler was jailed for 18 months, suspended for 20 months. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
The abuse took place in his home in the 1970s and 1980s. The two victims were aged between eight and 15 when the abuse took place.
Sadler was known to the victims and their families; he would sexually abuse the girls when they visited his house in Bexleyheath.
He would also take the girls to a local park, where he would carry out further sexual assaults.
Officers from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command began an investigation after a 48-year-old woman came forward in January 2017 to report being sexually abused by Sadler as a child.
During the course of the investigation it was established there was a further victim, a 48-year-old woman. Officers contacted the victim and she also reported she was abused by Sadler as a child.
Sadler was voluntarily interviewed on 7 February 2017 and then again on 6 July 2018.
He was subsequently summonsed to attend Bromley Magistrates’ Court on 7 January.
