Pervert jailed after he was caught by paedophile hunters

A convicted sex offender has been jailed after he was caught by paedophile hunters

Scott Aaron Bamford, 25 formerly of Rochdale but staying in a bail hostel in Manchester appeared at Manchester Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to:

  • Two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child

  • Attempting to cause/incite a female child under 13 to engage in sexual activity

The court was told that Bamford had contacted the online profile profile of who he believed belonged to a 13 year old girl. He sent sexually explicit chat with the intent of engaging the child into sexual activity.

However, the girl did not exist and was instead an adult posing as a child online in a bit to catch sexual predators who target children.

A paedophile hunting team called ‘Dark Light’ who were assisted by team 25/8 confronted Bamford at a bail hostel in Manchester. They questioned him on his internet activity before police arrived to arrest him.

The police later discovered that Bamford had also been sending sexual chat to two real schoolgirls.

The judge snetenced Bamford to four years imprisonment with six years on licence

A sexual harm prevention order for ten years was imposed and he was told that he must adhere to the sex offenders register requirements for life

The destruction of his mobile phone was also ordered.
