Gravesend man jailed for 16 years for sexually abusing a child
A 16-year sentence has been handed to a man from Gravesend for sexually abusing a child.
Stanislav Fako, 31, of Thistle Road, was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday April 19 after he was found guilty of two charges of causing a child to watch a sexual act, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and attempted rape of a child.
He was also charged with assault of a child under 13 by penetration, engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of a child and intimidation.
The jury heard how between April 2016 and January 2017 Fako had abused a 12-year-old girl on a number of occasions.
Upset by what Fako had done, the girl attempted to harm herself and it was only at this point that she was able to bravely speak up and reveal what had happened.
Fako was arrested in January 2017 and following his arrest he was bailed while officers investigated the claims.
He then approached the victim on her way home from school where he intimidated her.
Officers further arrested Fako and he was remanded and charged in December 2017.
He denied all the charges however during his trial in January he was found guilty.
Fako was ordered to serve 16 years in jail with an additional four years on licence, and was also given a 15 month sentence relating to the charge of intimidation.
As well as the sentence, Fako was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and handed a sexual harm prevention order.
