Paedophile jailed over sex offences against young girl

A Leicestershire man has been jailed after being found guilty of a number of child sex offences has been jailed.

Colin Jackson, 57, appeared at Leicester Crown Court today was he was jailed for eight years and eight months today (Thursday 10 January) following a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

On Tuesday (8 January), Jackson, of Barradale Avenue, Sileby, was found guilty of:

  • Six counts of indecent assault

    Three counts of indecency with a child

    Two counts of sexual assault

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images at an earlier court hearing. All offences were committed between 2000 and 2008.

Jackson began abusing his young victim when she was just 12 years old, taking indecent photos of her and downloading thousands of others from the internet. They were stored on hard drives and protected by passwords.

Jackson had earlier admitted downloading indecent pictures of unknown youngsters on the internet between 2004 and 2014.

They related to 40 images at the most serous level, category A, 50 images in category B and 15,412 in category C.  

He was jailed for eight years and eight months.

Judge Martin Hurst said the offences involved grooming and manipulation of the complainant.

He said the consequences for the victim, who had suffered emotional trauma, were “tragic.”

The judge added: “It does you no credit that you fought this case (by having a trial) when you knew she was telling the truth.

“You should be bitterly ashamed of your behaviour.”

Jackson was placed on an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will have to report any future home addresses to the police, following his release, for inclusion on a sex offenders’ register.
