Child sex beast from Wigan is jailed for 15 years
A vile Wigan paedophile who repeatedly sexually assaulted a young girl and tried to rape her has been jailed for 15 years.
David Pek was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court for nine offences, including seven counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 13 and one of attempted rape.
The court heard how the 34-year-old from Tyldesley was caught after the victim confided in a teacher.
Pek lived at three different houses in Little Hulton and a caravan at an unknown location between 2009 and 2012: the three-year period during which the abuse took place.
His victim was aged between eight and 12 years at the time of the sexual assaults.
Despite pleading not guilty when the matter arrived at court, Pek was convicted following a seven-day trial which began back in November at Manchester’s Crown Square.
Judge Michael Leeming, who handed down the sentence, heard how the victim now suffers from anxiety and depression as a result of Pek’s continued abuse.
Vile paedophile who tried to rape a young girl and subjected her to ‘terrifying’ sexual assaults said no-one would believe her
A paedophile who tried to rape a young girl and sexually assaulted her has been jailed for 15 years.
David Pek, 34, from Wigan, is now behind bars starting a lengthy term after being convicted of nine offences, including one of attempted rape.
Manchester Crown Court heard that Pek – who denied the offences but was found guilty after a trial – was caught after his victim told a teacher about what had happened to her.
Pek had told her that she wouldn’t be believed, and that she would get in trouble if she reported his crimes, the jury heard.
A sentencing hearing was told that Pek sexually abused her and also tried to rape her.
“It must have been a terrifying experience,” Judge Michael Leeming said.
In a victim impact statement read to the court, the girl said her life has been ‘completely different’ as a result of Pek’s offending.
She said she now suffers from anxiety and depression.
Pek, of Tyldesley, Wigan, was found guilty after trial of one count of attempted rape, seven counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, and one count of inciting a child under 13 into sexual activity.
