Convicted sex offender admits rape and breaching conditions

A convicted sex offender from Cornwall has pleaded guilty to raping a child and failing to comply with his notification requirements as a sex offender.

David William Robert Carroll, 28, from Pengegon Parc in Camborne , appeared at Truro Crown Court via video-link from HMP Exeter on Tuesday (November 11).

Wearing the regulation grey prison uniform Carroll spoke to confirm his name and address before a total of 10 charges were read to him. Carroll pleaded guilty to each and charge levelled against him.

In total Carroll admitted on three occasions failing to comply with his notification requirements as a relevant offender, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of taking an indecent photograph of a child, rape of a child under 13 and three counts of making indecent images of children.

Regarding the indecent images counts the court heard how Carroll was found in possession of two Category A images, one Category B image and two Category C images.

He will be produced at Truro Crown Court for sentencing on January 25. He will remain in Exeter prison until then.
