North-east pensioner caught with 108 indecent pictures of kids

A pensioner was caught by police with more than 100 indecent images of children.

Joseph Lima, 73, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday over the matter.

He pled guilty to possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, as well as taking, permitting to be taken or making indecent images.

The offences happened between August 1 2014 and April 11 2018.

Fiscal depute Jamie Dunbar said police executed a search at his address on Boyne Court, Ladysbridge, at 8.30am on April 11 after receiving intelligence.

An Acer laptop, along with a box of pen drives, were seized.

Mr Dunbar said the equipment was examined and 108 indecent images of children discovered.

A total of 16 of the images were the highest category A, six category B and 86 category C.

The fiscal depute told the court Lima admitted to police that he had received images in online chatrooms which he opened, discovered were indecent pictures of children and deleted.

Defence agent Iain Jane asked for sentence to be deferred for reports.

Sheriff Jack Brown deferred sentence on Lima, whose address was given in court papers as Boyne Court, Ladysbridge, until next month.
