Sex offender Mathew Huckle was freed after having sex with a child – and within months he was caught by paedophile hunters trying to have illicit chats with what he thought were schoolgirls.

Huckle was given a suspended prison sentence last March after having sex with a 15-year-old he had met online.

But he was soon back on the internet, speaking to what he believed to be two 14-year-old girls but were in fact decoy profiles set up by groups.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the pervert sent more than 300 messages and requested naked pictures from one of the profiles, while he asked to meet the other ‘girl’.

Huckle, of Coverdale, Gateshead, who was repeatedly told during the online chats that he was talking to 14-year-olds, was arrested at his home.

Now the 23-year-old has been jailed for 20 months after he admitted attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and breaching a sexual harm prevention order imposed for the offence last year.

Judge Robert Adams ordered him to sign the sex offenders register and abide by a new sexual harm prevention order for ten years.

The judge told him: “In both cases you persisted with conversation with people you believed were 14, repeatedly being told they were 14 and discussing penetrative sexual activity with them.”

Newcastle Crown Court heard Huckle was snared by Dark Justice and Guardians of the North, who had set up decoy profiles on separate social media sites.

The undercover organisations operate fake internet profiles in a bid to expose adults looking for contact with children.
