Vile and inhumane’ baby abuse images were among sickening haul found on Gosforth grandad’s computer
Anthony Bell, of Gosforth, had more than 4,500 depraved pictures and movies featuring youngsters ‘from barely a few months old through to teenagers’
Vile and inhumane baby abuse images were among the sickening haul of indecent pictures and videos of children found on a pervert’s computer.
Outwardly respectable grandad Anthony Bell’s dark side was revealed when police found more than 4,500 images in his possession.
A court heard they featured children “from barely a few months old through to teenagers” and a judge said some of them contained “extreme depravity”.
Now the 56-year-old, who admitted swapping some of the pictures with online associates and also had some videos of adults having sex with dogs, has been locked up for 12 months at Newcastle Crown Court.
Judge Tim Gittins, at Newcastle Crown Court, said the child abuse images caused “immeasurable harm” to the youngsters.
He added: “Even the mere description makes right-thinking members of society shudder at the utter vileness and inhumanity at such actions, let alone images being taken of such actions, or watching and retaining those images for sadistic sexual pleasure.
“Each viewing, each retention, is a further abuse of that child.”
The court heard Bell’s computer equipment was seized and examined by police in July last year and contained images across all three categories of seriousness.
Prosecutor Mark Guiliani told the court: “The Crown would indicate great harm is done to those individuals who are exploited to make these films.
“On behalf of those individuals, the Crown would stress the great harm done to children in making these videos.”
Bell, of no fixed address but formally of Gosforth, Newcastle, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornography.
As well as the prison sentence, he must sign the sex offenders register and abide by a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
