Pervert dies in prison

A pub landlord who was jailed after police discovered a sickening collection of extreme pornography at his home has died in prison, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed.

In January Jerome Dangar, formerly of the King Arthur’s Arms in Tintagel, was sentenced to 15 months in prison at Truro Crown Court.

The 45-year-old had previously pleading guilty to nine counts of possessing extreme pornographic images.

A prison service spokesperson today confirmed that Dagnar died at HMP Dartmoor yesterday.

His death comes just weeks after Dagnar applied to the court to amend an order to allow him to go holiday following the completion of his sentence.

Dangar was due to be released in August this year. The prison service spokesperson said: “HMP Dartmoor prisoner Jerome Dangar died on 15 April 2019 and our thoughts are with his family and friends.“

As with all deaths in custody there will be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.”

Dangar, was arrested on November 2 after police swarmed around the King Arthur Arms Inn in Tintagel.

More than a dozen police officers and a police dog handler took part in the planned raid.

The operation was led by officers from Staffordshire Police and was supported by officers from Devon and Cornwall Police. The following day Dangar pleaded guilty to all nine counts at Truro Magistrates’ Court.

The images depicted vile acts, including threats to life and serious genital injuries. One pathologist who examined them said there was a strong possibility they weren’t staged and that some of the subjects died during the filming process.

During the legal process Dangar was made subject of a sexual risk order. A stipulation of the order ruled that he must surrender his passport after he was released from prison and not travel abroad for five years.

His case was returned to Truro Crown Court in March when his solicitor Chris Andrews argued that Dangar had never carried out any “contact offending” and that the ruling was excessive and restrictive.

Judge Robert Linford dismissed the claims and refused the application.
