Jail for Aspley man who raped and assaulted young girls
An Aspley man has been jailed for a string of historic and recent sex offences against young girls.
Lee Weaver, 45, of Beechdale Road, targeted girls under 16 in the 1980s and also a girl under 18 between 2014 and 2015.
He is now starting a five-year prison sentence after a jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty following a trial.
Detective Constable Amy Revill of Notts Police said: “Weaver preyed on young children who could not defend themselves from his advances.
“The victims in this case showed great bravery in coming forward to speak about Weaver’s actions towards them. Because of their courage, he finally faces justice for his actions.
“We take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously – whether they have been committed recently or many years ago – and we would encourage anyone who has been a victim of such an offence to contact us as soon as possible.”
Weaver’s crimes between March 1985 and March 1986 included raping a girl under 16, indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child.
He was also convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under 18 between December 2014 and January 2015.
