Highly respected music teacher sentenced for indecent assault of teenage pupil
A highly respected music teacher accused of giving a teenage pupil a drunken hug in a pub then groping her 20 years ago was placed under 12 months supervision.
David Parsonage, 68, of St Margaret Way, Wrexham, a music teacher for 30 years who had taught thousands of schoolchildren, was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
He had been found guilty previously, by a 10 to two majority verdict by a jury, of a single offence of indecent assault at a pub in Wrexham.
Recorder Wyn Lloyd Jones told him at Caernarfon Crown Court: ”You were drunk and she was with her friends wanting to enjoy herself. You started it off with a drunken hug and it was then afterwards you indecently assaulted her, putting your hand down her trousers.
“It must have been highly upsetting for her.”
Parsonage’s name will no longer be on the sex offenders’ register because of the sentence.
