A man has been jailed following a sting operation carried out by a paedophile hunting team
Martin Wakelam, 35 formerly of Stourbridge, West Midlands but now living in Brixton, London appeared at court where he pleaded guilty to sexual communication with a child and meeting a child following sexual grooming
The court was told that Wakelam had contacted what he believed was the profile of a 14-year-old girl. He sent a great number of sexually charged messages with culminated in the pervert arranging to meet the child.
Wakelam expected the girl to travel from Lancashire to the South London Borough of Brixton, where they would engage in sexual activity.
However, the girl did not exist and was instead a member of online child protection team Capital O.C.P who pose as children online to snare sexual predators. The decoy was Alexa Decoy
Wakelam was sentenced to 13 months imprisonment and was told that he must register as a sex offender for an indefinite period
