Pervert caught by paedophile hunters

A pervert has been jailed after grooming what he believed were young girls online

Unemployed David Grange, 63 of Northampton appeared at Isleworth Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to a number of online sexual offences including:

  • Sexual communication with a child

  • Attempt to meet a child via online grooming and facilitating a meet

The court was told that Grange had contacted two online profiles of what he believed were schoolgirls aged 13 and 14 years old

Almost immediately after contact was made, Grange sent a series of highly sexualized messages explaining his sexual intent towards the girls.

During a string of messages to one girl, Grange explained to the child how to masturbate, and suggested using an electric toothbrush as a sexual aide.

The predator who used the online name of – red van man- told the girl his name was Aidy Johnston from Cardiff. He arrogantly told the girl he had in the past met up with children younger then 13.

The pervert went on to arrange to meet one of the girls.

On 7th April, 2018 Grange turned up to the meet at Bedfont Lakes near Heathrow  in a red van and headed into the grave yard where he knew the decoy would be waiting. When he noticed there was no child he returned to his van.

However online child protection team ‘No Excuses’ and Gary huntz from the team United 4 the kids approached the van and when they looked in the back  they saw a single mattress, pink sheets and a set of pillows.

The team confronted Grange, and he revealed he had lied online about his name and that he was really David grange from Northampton

The team questioned Grange on his internet activity and explained that the two girls were actually adults posing as children online to catch sexual predators.

The team called the police who in turn swiftly arrested Grange.

A search of the van later revealed that the paedophile had brought a number of items with him including: Gaffer tape, Coconut oil, Baby wipes and sudocream.

Grange was sentenced to nine months for count one and four months for count two. However, a total sentence of nine months was handed down

The pervert was placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.

He was also issued with a sexual harm prevention order to prohibit/restrict any online activity. That order would also run for an indefinite period
