Man jailed for horrific abuse on girl, 6, who he leashed like a dog and threatened to dump at sea

A man has been jailed for horrific child abuse on a six-year-old – after he LEASHED her like a dog and threatened to dump her at sea.

Michael Bailey, 50, assaulted the girl and told her: “If you behave like a dog, I’ll treat you like a dog.”

Bailey also made a threat to kill the child – who was as young as six years old when the abuse began – and said: “You will be wrapped in chains and taken out on a f***ing boat.”

Bailey, of Worle, North Somerset, denied wrongdoing, but was convicted at Bristol Crown Court on Friday of four child cruelty charges and one threat to kill.

Judge James Patrick jailed him for three years and four months, and ordered Bailey to have no contact with the girl whatsoever.

Bailey was also barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.

The court heard Bailey would grab the girl’s arm and hair and that he would swipe the child with a lead.

The judge said: “There was an instance when he approached the youngster and attached a dog lead on her, saying: “If you behave like a dog I’ll treat you like a dog.”

The court also heard a recorded telephone call Bailey made to the youngster, in which he threatened to kill her and dump her at sea.

Bailey told the child: “I will f***ing come and find you and you will find out what a beating is about, do you understand, do you understand you stupid little f***ing b****.

“I will find you and you will be wrapped in chains and taken out on a f***-ing boat, do you understand? Do you want to f***ing cross me… you’ll f***ing get it!

“You will go down with the f***ing fish in an area where they don’t dredge, and I’ll know where that is ’cause I’ve f-ing done it for a job.

“Now f*** off and leave me alone and everyone associated with me alone or you will not be f***ing breathing.”

The girl replied: “Alright.”

Bailey asked: “Do you understand?”, to which she replied, “Yeah”, and Bailey finally said: “I will f***ing get you!”

The girl made an impact statement in which she said described feeling angry at what happened, and always on edge.

She stated she was still terrified of Bailey and found it difficult to trust anyone because of her experiences.

The judge told Bailey: “You were an angry man with a short temper who made others live as if they were walking on egg shells.”

Sarah Regan, defending, told the court: “He accepts he has to be sentenced as a result of the jury’s findings.”
