Pervert caught by paedophile hunting team

A pervert has been handed a community order for grooming who he believed was a young girl.

Unemployed David Preece of Soilhull appeared at Birmingham Crown Court where he faced a charge of:

  • Attempting To Incite A Child To Engage In Sexual Activity

The court was told that Preece had contacted what he believed was the profile of a 13 year old female child. He introduced himself and the first reply he received stated the childs name and her age (13)

Preece sent a string of messages about sexual acts he wanted to undertake with the child. He told her that he had a nice car and if she met him, then she could drive it.

However, in one deeply disturbing message, the pervert became sinister, after he told the girl to sneak out to meet him. If she failed to comply, then he would track her down and rape her

The court was told that the girl did not exist and was actually a member of paedophile hunting team ‘Totnes Justice’. The team handed their evidence into police who swiftly arrested the predator and seized his internet capable devices

Originally pleading not guilty, Preece changed his plea and admitted his guilt on the first day of trial.

The judge handed him a two Year community order with a 35 day rehabilitation activity requirement

A five year sexual harm prevention order was put in place and Preece was told that he must register as a sex offender with immediate effect

150 hours of unpaid work was imposed.
