Judge Jeremy Richardson QC said: “This man is serially indulging in under-age sex. He admitted in cross-examination that he lied to the police on a number of matters.”
The offence involving the girl who became pregnant happened in November 2013 and she claimed that they first had sex on a field at Bradley Pitches.
On the second occasion, she became pregnant and later had an abortion. DNA evidence proved that Oldham was the father.
Judge Richardson said that the matter started as a safeguarding matter but later became a criminal investigation.
Oldham claimed during the trial that, apart from the pregnant teenager and one other girl, he never had sex with any of the girls. He claimed that he believed that one of the girls was over 16 because she led him to believe this.
The court heard that one 14-year-old girl claimed: “I told him how old I was before sex.”
She reluctantly went ahead with sex and was not under pressure. They had sex again when she was 15.
“I never told him I was 16,” she claimed. “We were just friends. One thing led to another and we just had sex.”
Another 14-year-old girl claimed: “It just happened. He was being really nice to me and it just happened.” They had three months of casual sex before she ended the relationship, the court heard.
Another girl claimed that Oldham asked her: “How old are you?” and she told him: “Fourteen.” She claimed that he said: “Oh, that’s all right then.”
The 15-year-old girl who claimed she was raped “was aware that the defendant slept around a lot” and claimed that he asked her for nude pictures but she did not send any.
She claimed that, at his house, he told her: “Let’s go to bed. Your clothes are going to be off soon. He just carried on pulling my trousers down and I just gave in. Then he took my top off and then we had sex.”
The court heard that Oldham made threats on Facebook because the girl had spoken to the police.
Another 15-year-old girl claimed Oldham had bragged about having sex with her.
A 14-year-old girl said: “We just sat on his bed and that’s when it happened. He asked me if I wanted to have sex with him and I said: ‘Yeah’. I told him I was 14. I felt he had genuine feelings for me. My mother was furious with me.”
The girl’s mother told the court: “I was furious. He was begging me not to go to the police.”
Oldham told the court about when he was told about the pregnant girl.
“I found out the baby was mine,” he said. “I was hurt and upset.”
Oldham claimed that he had never even met one of the girls but admitted lying to police, saying that he was “scared”. The prosecution claimed that the only reason he admitted having sex with the girl who became pregnant was because he was “backed into a corner” because of the “irrefutable evidence” of the unborn baby.
He also admitted that he had boasted online of sleeping with 42 people.
At the same hearing a second man, Kyran Robinson, 21, of Convamore Road, Grimsby, admitted one offence of sexual activity with a girl between May 1 and 31 2014. He was given a one-year suspended prison sentence.
Judge Richardson told Robinson: “Your conduct was shameful. You were only 17 at the time and the girl was 14. You knew what you were doing and it was utterly shameful. Are you ashamed of yourself?”
