Amblecote child sex attacker jailed for two years

AN Amblecote man who carried out a sex attack on a 12-year-old girl has been jailed for two years.

Martin Whitcombe, aged 50, was further ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years by a judge at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The hearing was told many months had passed before the victim was able to show emotion about what took place, it was picked up by one of her teachers and the police were notified.

Judge Michael Dudley told Whitcombe: “The message needs to go out that young girls who are abused in this way do have the protection of the courts and custodial sentences will follow.”

Whitcombe of School Drive admitted sexual assault on a girl under 16 years of age.

Timothy Sapwell, prosecuting, said Whitcombe had fondled the young girl and she had been “frozen with shock.”

It was only reported to police, he added, when, during a lesson, the girl became upset and when she was consoled by the teacher “it all came out.”
