Beast who hoarded horrific child rape films at parents’ home caged for 27 months
A creepy sex beast who hoarded horrific child rape films at his parents’ home has been caged for 27 months.
Loner David Munro, 48, who also distributed movies depicting the sexual abuse of youngsters over the internet to other paedophiles, was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.
Munro appeared for sentence at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday after he was snared with a vile cache of illegal images and films following a child protection operation by police.
Officers who raided the house, in which he lived with his elderly parents, recovered his laptop computer with 80 indecent pictures showing girls as young as four being abused by grown men.
He had also collected 79 obscene movies depicting the harrowing sexual abuse of youngsters, the majority of these being Category A – the most depraved level of child sex abuse.
The pervert of Peockland Gardens, Johnstone, pleaded guilty to charges of taking or permitting to be taken a quantity of indecent images of children between May 12, 2017 and November 27, 2017.
He also admitted a charge of distributing indecent images of children between October 1, 2017, and October 16, 2017.
His defence agent Jonathan Manson appealed to the court spare him jail because Munro had been born with a congenital disorder and had been involved in a serious car accident when he was much younger, which had a catastrophic effect on his physical and emotional development.
The lawyer said: “He has a congenital birth disorder and was involved a very serious road accident. The combination of these two factors have caused him real difficulties.
“He has been unable to form personal relationships, particularly with the opposite sex.
The court was told police intelligence prompted a dawn raid at the home Munro shares with his parents.
Fiscal depute Pamela Brady said: “Police had intelligence that an IP address at the locus had been uploading indecent images of children and checks were carried out.
“A search warrant was granted and at around 8.10am on November 29, 2017, a number of police officers attended the locus where they were allowed entry by the accused’s mother.
“The accused was present as the search continued.
“He admitted, stating, ‘It has nothing to do with them,’ referring to his mother and stepfather.
“He said, ‘There are some indecent images. It’s nothing to do with them.’
“A laptop computer was located.
“The accused confirmed it was his laptop and that he was the user.”
His computer, which was analysed by cyber crime experts, contained 80 indecent images of children inside folders in the user account name David.
A number of moving images of children were also discovered. These were 79 files of which 51 were Category A, 18 were Category B and 10 were Category C.
Previously, Munro sparked outrage at an Old Firm match when he taunted US-born Rangers player Claudio Reyna in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist atrocities.
The Celtic fan later apologised for goading the player by mimicking a plane with his arms extended as Reyna was taking a corner kick at Ibrox Stadium on September 30, 2001 – barely three weeks after the attacks.
Sheriff David Pender told Munro there was only one sentence appropriate given the seriousness of his crime.
He said: “In my view the offence– particularly the second charge – is so serious I can only deal with this by imposing a period in custody.
“Charge one you will serve nine months reduced from 12 months because of your guilty plea. Charge two is 36 months, reduced to 27 months, because of the plea.
“These charges will run concurrently.”
He also placed Munro on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.
