Hull teacher had indecent images of children

A maths teacher has been fined £20 after being caught with dozens of indecent photographs of children while working at a Hull secondary school.

Ian Garfoot, 32, was working at Newland School for Girls when he was arrested by police in November.

He later admitted two offences of making indecent photographs of children when he appeared at Hull Magistrates’ Court.

Both offences took place on or before November 10 and relate to a total of 62 images. A total of 51 were found on a laptop seized from Garfoot’s home in Westbourne Avenue, west Hull, on November 10.

Also recovered was a pen drive, containing 11 more indecent photographs.

Garfoot was ordered to attend the Northumbria Sex Offender Programme for 144 hours, and have up to 60 days rehabilitation.

He must register as a sex offender for five years. He was also fined £20 and must pay £85 costs and a £60 surcharge
