Football Coach Jailed for Sex attack on Young Boy

A man who helped out at a football club and abused his position of trust by sexually assaulting a young boy has been jailed.

Carl Wright, 58 of Brendon Close, Harlington was sentenced on Wednesday,15 August at Isleworth Crown Court to three years and six months imprisonment.

He was also given a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Wright pleaded guilty on Wednesday, 18 July to sexual assault by touching of a child aged 13 to 15 years and false imprisonment.

On Saturday, 17 March police were contacted by the victim’s mother who stated her son had been sexually assaulted by a man who helped out with coaching at Sandgate Youth F.C.

The boy, aged 13 had stayed at the home address of Wright the previous night to watch a football game.

At around 2am on Saturday morning Wright entered the room where the boy was sleeping and sexually assaulted him.

When the victim realised what was happening, he got up and immediately got dressed.

He ran from the room straight to the front door to leave but was prevented from doing so by Wright.

The victim pleaded with Wright that he wanted to go home and eventually he drove the victim home in his car.

Wright suggested to the victim’s mother there had been a misunderstanding but as soon as the victim informed his mother of what had happened police were called.

Wright was arrested by officers later that morning on Saturday 17 March 2018 for sexual touching and false imprisonment. He was charged on Sunday, 18 March.
