Darwen pensioner jailed for child sex crimes
A pensioner has been jailed for six years after being found guilty of a number of historic sexual crimes against children.
A jury at Preston Crown Court heard Thomas Barbour Cathie, 79, of Perry Street, Darwen, committed the offences in Blackburn in the 1980s.
The offences involved two girls, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.
As well as sentencing Cathie to immediate custody, Judge Simon Medland QC also made the defendant subject to a further 12 months on licence once he is released.
Cathie was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and pay the statutory surcharge to fund victim services.
