Paedophile jailed after abusing girls
Paedophile Nigel Shaw has been jailed for more than 15 years after he sexually abused two schoolgirls.
The 62-year-old carried out sickening attacks on the girls by touching their private parts.
He then sent two other girls explicit messages and encouraged a fifth victim to take part in sexual activity.
Now Shaw, of Wigmore Place, Longton, has been jailed for 15 years and 10 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Recorder Stephen Thomas told him: “You clearly sexually abused two girls. They have managed to make something of their lives but no doubt the effects of what you did to them will be with them for the rest of their lives.
“You have shown absolutely no remorse for what you have done.”
The judge said the offences where Shaw engaged in sexual communication with girls – years after the assaults on his other victims – showed a ‘consistent tendency to his character’.
He added: “The sexualised messages you sent to those girls was for your own sexual gratification. You incited a girl. It seems to me obvious you knew her age and she was under 13 at the time.”
Shaw had pleaded guilty to inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and possession of an indecent image of a child
He denied a string of other sexual offences but was found guilty after a trial of five offences of indecent assault, three offences of sexual activity with a child, and two charges of engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Prosecutor Paul Spratt said the defendant’s behaviour has had a dramatic effect on the two girls he sexually abused.
And he told the court later offences involved targeting and grooming.
He added: “The defendant sought from one of the girl images of a sexual nature. He received facial images of her and he sent images of himself to her – facial images and of his torso, which included words to the effect, ‘I could have gone lower down’.
“There were some telephone calls between the two of them. He anticipated undertaking oral sex upon her and was graphic. He anticipated her having oral sex with him and he anticipated penetrative sex with her.”
As well as the prison sentence, Shaw was made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
