Sawbridgeworth sex offender jailed
A predator has been jailed for 14 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing three victims over the course of four decades.
Mark Ryley, 56, committed his vile campaign of abuse between 1981 and 2014 in locations in both East London and Hertfordshire.
The three female victims, who were all known to Ryley, were all under the age of 16 when the abuse started.
In 2013, a female came forward to report that she had been abused by Ryley from the age of six and that it had continued until she was around 13-years-old.
Following the initial lead, an investigation into Ryley by the Metropolitan Police’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command (CASO) led to the identification of two further victims.
These two women gave details of the abuse that they had suffered, which he had carried out over a number of years between the early 2000s up until 2014.
Ryley of Mansfield, High Wych, Sawbridgeworth, was arrested on February 6, 2015 and later charged on July 27, 2015.
He appeared for a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court on May 14 and was found guilty of 16 offences.
On Friday (July 13), Ryley was brought before the same court to be sentenced for six counts of indecent assault, seven counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault by penetration and two counts of attempted rape.
He was sentenced to a total of 14 years’ imprisonment.
