Reading paedophile jailed for sexual abuse of girls under 13
A man has been jailed for 21 years after he was found guilty of sexually abusing girls under 13.
Martin Evans, 46, of Arthur Place, Reading, was convicted after a two week trial at Reading Crown Court.
He was charged with eight offences and found guilty of five, including rape and sexual assault.
Thames Valley Police said the sentence reflected “the seriousness of this shocking crime”.
Evans was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child under 13, two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
He was found not guilty of three counts of rape of a child under 13.
Police said the offences related to more than one victim and occurred over a period of time up to and including 2014.
Det Con Helen Gasson said: “I would like to thank the victims and witnesses for their bravery in coming forward.
“They have shown such strength and courage throughout this trial.”
Evans was also given a six years extended licence once his jail term is complete.
