Paedophile who fled to Turkey jailed for six years after sexually assaulting young boy
A paedophile who fled to Turkey over half a decade ago has been jailed for more than six years for historic sexual offences against a young boy.
David Spencer Hill managed to evade justice for six years before authorities found him hiding in Turkey.
He left England prior to his trial at Bristol Crown Court in 2012.
The 75-year-old had admitted three counts of indecent assault but was then found guilty of a further three counts of the same offence along with three counts of gross indecency after the trial was held in his absence.
The convictions relate to the assault of a boy during the 1980s.
Police worked with authorities across the world to track down the pervert.
Hill was eventually located in the Aydın province of Turkey in September 2016 and arrested by the Turkish authorities.
Avon and Somerset officers collected Hill from Turkey this week following the conclusion of the extradition process.
He then appeared at Bristol Crown Court yesterday, Wednesday, where a judge sent him to prison for six years and three months.
A news website which serves Turkey’s British ex-pat community, www.voicesnewspaper.com, reports that Hill lived in the small seaside holiday resort town of Didim on the Aegean coast of Turkey for six years. He was said have lived comfortably in plain sight and performed in local amateur dramatics groups while making several friends. The website claims Hill was known as David Spence.
