A child abuser who groomed and molested a young girl and shared indecent images of her in twisted online chats is starting a prison sentence.
Graham Allport, 48, distributed indecent pictures of the underage girl while discussing his disturbing sexual fantasies with a woman on the internet.
The former Revenue and Customs worker chatted via Skype with the woman, whom he said he had met via an erotic fantasy website, Teesside Crown Court heard on Wednesday.
Cleveland Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) discovered that images had been uploaded to the internet from Allport’s home.
Allport, a self-confessed lifelong pornography addict, was arrested and caught with 84 indecent images of children on his phone.
Prosecutor Richard Bennett said the sickening pictures included children as young as two to four being sexually abused.
Officers also found the Skype conversations containing indecent images of a semi-naked underage girl.
It was revealed he had touched and kissed the girl, touched himself in front of her, took pictures of her body and made her watch pornography.
The girl told investigators she “didn’t really want to say no” to Allport and the activity made her feel uncomfortable.
When he was arrested, Allport denied having any sexual interest in children.
At first he claimed the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, must be lying but then confessed she was not.
Allport, formerly of Billingham, admitted 12 charges – four of sexual activity with a child, two of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, one of causing a child to watch a sexual act, one of arranging or facilitating a child sex offence, one of distributing and three of making indecent images of children.
He sat in the dock with his head in his hands throughout his sentencing hearing.
Judge Simon Bourne-Arton QC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, told Allport: “These, as you know and recognise, are dreadful offences.”
He said Allport took advantage of the girl’s confusion for his own satisfaction and gratification to groom her and carry out his sexual fantasies, then tried to cast blame elsewhere.
“No one is to blame for what has happened other than yourself, Mr Allport,” he added.
“You took advantage of her because of your pre-occupation with sex.
“You can only imagine the effect of your behaviour. Her memories of what you did to her may always remain with her.
“You normalised such behaviour. It is far, far, far from being normal.”
He jailed Allport for seven years and four months.
Allport was given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will be on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Paedophile owns up to catalogue of child sex crimes
A 48-year-old man has been warned to prepare for a long prison sentence after he admitted a catalogue of child sex crimes.
Graham Allport pleaded guilty to 12 offences including sexual activity with an underage girl years ago and distributing child abuse images.
He admitted four counts of sexual activity with an underage girl, two of engaging in sexual activity in her presence, one of causing her to watch sexual acts, and one of arranging or facilitating a child sex offence.
He also admitted one charge of distributing an indecent photograph of a child, and three charges of making indecent photos of children between May 2016 and July 2017.
The last three charges related to 84 illegal images, including 16 at the most serious level in law.
Judge Peter Armstrong allowed conditional bail for Allport, of Kilnwick Close, Billingham, until sentencing on September 10.
