Online child groomer caught by paedophile hunters
A pervert who groomed online what he believed was a child has been jailed
Robert Mellon, 48 of Newport appeared at court where he pleaded guilty to sexual communication with a child
The court heard that Mellon had contacted what he believed was an online profile of a child. He sent sexually explicit chat.
However, the child was really a decoy for a paedophile hunting team called Huntz 2 Exposure. The team handed their evidence into police who in turn arrested Mellon
The judge sentenced Mellon to 12 months imprisonment.
He was given a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years. A fine of £140 was also issued
