North Wales man’s ‘cancer check’ on boy was sex assault
A MAN who touched a little boy’s genitals claimed that he was simply checking for testicular cancer.
But a jury rejected his story and convicted him of sexual assault.
Nigel Jones, 44, was remanded in custody pending sentence and was told by a judge that his case had some worrying features.
Judge Niclas Parry, sitting at Mold Crown Court, told him a prison sentence was inevitable.
Jones, of Sutton Drive in Wrexham, had no previous convictions. He pleaded not guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child and two charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Jones was unanimously convicted by the jury.
Prosecuting barrister John Wyn Jones said it was alleged Jones persuaded the victim, who was very young, to indulge in mutual sexual activity.
