Pervert tried to persuade a father to get his child to perform sex acts
A pervert used online messages to try to persuade a father to get his own daughter to perform sex acts.
Christopher Bennett was caught five months later by Derbyshire police officers posing as a parent and an 11-year-old girl.
Derby Crown Court heard the 33-year-old had a lewd phone conversation with the undercover officer, during which he asked what the ‘father’ wanted to do to the 11-year-old ‘daughter’.
Bennett, of St Helen’s Street, Derby, also sent online messages to the officers asking the ‘girl’ to perform a sex act on herself.
After his arrest, police seized Bennett’s laptop and found indecent images – one category A image (the most serious) and 20 category C images.
Prosecutor Steven Taylor told the court the first incident happened on June 4 last year when Bennett was in contact with a man online and asked him to engage in sexual activity with his own daughter.
Mr Taylor said the phone conversation with the undercover police officers took place on November 13 and the online messages happened on November 27.
He told the court: “The undercover police officer purported to be the father of the 11-year-old and engaged in conversation of a sexual nature by phone.
“He asked him what he wanted to do with his daughter and this progressed.
“The defendant was then allowed to speak to what he believed was the 11-year-old, in reality this was another police officer purporting to be an 11-year-old.”
Bennett admitted possessing indecent images, attempting to arrange and facilitate the commissioning of a child in a sexual offence and two counts of attempting to insight a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
He was handed an eight-year extended sentence, where he will serve up to four years in prison with the remainder on licence.
