Partially sighted pensioner caught with indecent images of children walks free
A partially sighted pervert was caught with a stash of hundreds of sick images of children.
Pensioner Frank Morland was found to have the vile movies and pictures stored on his computer and hard drives when police searched his Northumberland home.
Newcastle Crown Court, sitting at the Moot Hall, was told that eight of the videos were the most serious kind – category A – and involved penetrative sexual activity of youngsters between the ages of nine and 12.
Grandfather Morland was interviewed and confessed to officers that he had “formed an addiction” of looking at the sick material on the internet.
Now, the married 72-year-old, of The Wynding, Bedlington, has pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent images, one of possessing prohibited images of a child and one of possessing extreme pornography, which showed women with animals.
Prosecutor Jolyon Perks said: “Police executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home address after receiving intelligence that the IP address attributable to this defendant had been utilised to search for indecent pictures of children between October 2015 and December 2015.
“As a result of the search, all electronic devices were seized for forensic examination.
“Prior to the results, the defendant was interviewed and he was to give an account that accepted ownership of the devices but, when asked if he had been searching for indecent images, he made no reply.”
Altogether, eight category A and two category C movies were found
on a computer and two hard drives, along with 352 prohibited images of children and 13 extreme porn videos.
When interviewed for a second time with the results of the forensic examinations, Morland confessed to having an addiction for viewing child abuse videos.
Morland avoided an immediate term of imprisonment and was given an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for two years.
Recorder Ben Nolan QC told him: “I have regard to the fact that you’re 72 and not in good health and your eyesight is poor and that you have already began to address your problem.
“I’m prepared to suspended the sentence I impose in the hope that you will continue to address your problems.”
Morland was also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the same period.
