Paedophile jailed for sex attacks on schoolgirl
Paedophile William Corcoran has been jailed after he sexually abused a schoolgirl.
The 56-year-old told the child to look at his private parts and lie on top of him.
He then pulled her on top of him and she felt him rubbing up against her body.
The second incident involved him telling the youngster to perform a sex act on him.
Now Corcoran has been jailed for 33 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Denise Fitzpatrick said the first offence involved the defendant pulling his victim on top of him.
She said: “He rubbed himself up and down and told her she could practise when she had a boyfriend.”
Miss Fitzpatrick said the offending has left the victim lacking confidence. She struggles with relationships and has found it hard to be close to her long-term partner.
Miss Fitzpatrick added: “She struggled at school and college and with relationships. She has struggled with depression and anxiety.”
Corcoran, of Consett Road, Blurton, denied the allegations but was convicted of indecent assault and indecency with a child after a trial in March.
Recorder Stephen Thomas made Corcoran the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for life.
The judge told the defendant the second offence involved planning and involved the penetration of her mouth.
Recorder Thomas added: “I am sure the abuse you inflicted still plays on the mind of your victim.”
