Man regularly abused under-aged girl, on her way to school
A hotel porter repeatedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old school girl during two years of abuse
Father-of-two, Samuel Griffiths, groomed the girl after meeting her and ended up taking her virginity.
The pair regularly met in the mornings for secret encounters after his night shift ended and when she was on her way to school.
The defendant also persuaded her to send him indecent photographs of herself.
To win her silence, Griffiths told her: “You can’t tell anyone, I’ll lose my family, I’ll lose my life, I’ll lose my home and I’ll lose my kids.”
Griffiths (35), formerly of Tyler Court, Shepshed, was jailed for four years.
He pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual activity with a child, between 2014 and 2016.
He admitted one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, regarding indecent images she sent him.
Leicester Crown Court was told the victim, who stopped seeing the defendant when she was 15, had struggled with her schooling and was on anti-depressant medication.
Siward James-Moore, prosecuting, said: “She doesn’t think she will ever get back to how she was before this happened.
“She believes there will never be justice.”
Judge Martin Hurst said: “This abuse began after her 13th birthday and you were 32 or 33 and there was a very significant age differential.
“You started to express interest in her and brushed past her telling her she was beautiful and gorgeous.
“You became ever more infatuated with her.
“You knew what you were doing was wrong.
“She was a vulnerable young girl, innocent of all such matters you were about to engage in.”
Griffiths was placed on a 10 year sexual harm prevention order which included banning any contact with the victim.
