Man swapped 50,000 messages with 13-year-old girl
A LLANELLI man swapped 50,000 messages – many of them indecent – with a 13-year-old girl.
Andrew John Hill, aged 22, of Gorsedd, persuaded her to take photographs of her private parts and to send them to him.
Hill admitted inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and was jailed for four years by a judge at Swansea Crown Court.
Craig Jones, prosecuting, said Hill had contacted the girl over the internet in May, 2016, and over the following eight months they exchanged up to 50,000 messages.
Hill asked her to perform various sex acts on herself and to send him the images, and he sent her photographs as he masturbated.
Mr Jones said some of the messages concerned meeting face to face but there was never any direct contact.
At one stage her mother took a telephone from her daughter and spoke to Hill, who convinced her he was a 17 year old boy and that the exchanges were innocent.
After his arrest Hill told police: “I feel ashamed. It is the most stupid thing a bloke could do.”
Judge Geraint Walters told Hill that girls aged 13 needed protecting: “Sometimes from themselves as well as people like you who will take advantage of them.”
He said he was in no doubt that as the girl got older ‘those months of abuse will haunt her’.
“It will have a long term effect on her and that is why the courts have to deal firmly with people that abuse them,” he added.
Hill was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
