Child abuse images pervert spared jail sentence
A pervert who admitted being in possession of sick images of child abuse was spared a jail sentence last week.
Peter McGrevey, 56, was handed down a three-year community payback order as an alternative to custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
McGrevey previously admitted possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at a house in West Mains on March 26 last year.
He further admitted to possession of a quantity of extreme pornographic pictures, depicting in an explicit and realistic way, images containing bestiality.
This offence occurred at the same East Kilbride address on the same date.
McGrevey, of Regent Park Square, Strathbungo, Glasgow, denied taking or permitting to be taken or making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at the address between November 6, 2009 and January 27 last year.
His not guilty plea to this charge was accepted by the prosecutor.
At last week’s sentencing Sheriff Thomas Millar told McGrevey he was prepared to make a community payback order as an alternative to custody.
However, Sheriff Millar placed McGrevey on the Sex Offenders’ Register for three years.
He also told McGrevey he isn’t allowed to have any contact with children under 16 years of age or to have access to the internet other than in connection with any business activity.
McGrevey must also attend any courses as directed by his supervising officer.
