Convicted Workington sex offender jailed for four breaches of court order
A convicted child sex offender has been jailed for breaching two court orders.
Richie Townsend, 24, was handed an 18-month prison term by a judge earlier today.
Carlisle Crown Court heard Townsend had received a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO) in 2014.
This was part of his punishment for offences which included sexual activity with a child, and banned him from having contact or communication with females aged under 16.
But in March this year Townsend was found by police in the company of two 13-year-old females, and one aged 14. In addition he had previously had contact with a fourth girl.
He admitted four SOPO breaches which meant he also flouted a suspended jail term he received for separate offending last year.
Jailing Townsend, of Newlands Gardens, Workington, Judge Peter Hughes QC told him he was guilty of a “deliberate and conscious breach of the terms of your order”.
