Carlisle man admits having nearly 250,000 indecent images of children on computer
A perverted Carlisle man has admitted having almost a quarter of a million indecent images of children on his computer.
Michael John Webber, 58, of Edgehill Road, Harraby, admitted five offences relating to obscene images – most of them of children – when he appeared before a district judge at Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court today.
The offences had admitted were: downloading 1,499 indecent child images classed as category A – the most serious category; downloading 3,484 Category B indecent child images; downloading 216,142 indecent child images classed as Category C; possessing a total of 221,489 indecent child images; and possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a dog.
District Judge Gerald Chalk said the case was so serious that Webber must be sentenced by a judge at Carlisle Crown Court.
He sent the case there for a hearing on May 11, granting the defendant bail until that day.
