Quick-thinking mum sets up Snapchat pervert and blocks his van so police could arrest him
A middle-aged pervert was jailed thanks to a quick-thinking mum who blocked in his van after he tried to arrange a meeting.
Barry Boschen, 44, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child
Cheshire police said Boschen, of Benhill Avenue, Sutton, London, had posed as a 21-year-old from London on Snapchat and befriended his 12-year-old victim from Runcorn, Cheshire, after she accepted a friend request.
But the girl’s mum discovered Boschen’s account when she was checking her daughter’s social media.
She dug deeper and found sexually explicit messages that Boschen had sent over a period of a month, along with requests to meet up – despite the girl telling him she was only 15.
After speaking with her daughter the woman contacted the police and officers launched an investigation.
However, the following day she noticed that Boschen had uploaded a comment asking if anyone was in Chester or Runcorn and wanted to meet up.
The girl’s mum and a relative went to a nearby fast food restaurant in Runcorn where they predicted Boschen would be.
They spotted Boschen sitting in a van and the mum used her car to block him in his parking space.
She called police who arrived and arrested him.
