Paedophile ruins chances of career

A perverts chances of pursuing a career as a chef have been cooked after he had sex with a 14-year-old.

After a trial at Ayr Sheriff Court Paul McBride,20, was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

The court heard that he slept with the schoolgirl twice in his flat in the town.

When he appeared for sentencing last week McBride’s lawyer Mandy Stewart said: “He was hoping to start a course as a chef. But as a result of this conviction cannot pursue that.

“He is keen to gain employment.”

McBride had denied having sex with a girl over 13 who had not attained the age of 16.

Sheriff Norman McFadyen said: “This is a serious matter.”

Sheriff McFadyen dismissed McBride’s claim that he believed she was over 16.

However, he did accept the conclusion of a social enquiry report which put McBride at a low level risk of re-offending.

Sheriff McFadyen sentenced him to 160 hours community service with a three year supervision order.

He was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for two years.
