Mental health nurse hoarded sick images of children as young as two being sexually abused
A mental health nurse hoarded images of children as young as two being sexually abused.
Andrew Bryce, 34, was busted for downloading horrific videos and photographs after a police sting.
Bryce, who worked for NHS Ayrshire & Arran, admitted to police officers that he became sexually aroused when looking at pictures of children being abused.
The paedophile smiled as he left Ayr Sheriff Court after being spared a prison sentence last week.
Last April officers swooped on the dad’s home in Fiddison Place, Prestwick, and seized all his electronic devices.
Computer forensic experts found about 180 images, depute fiscal Andrew Lazarin told the court.
Mr Lazarin said police turned up at Bryce’s address on April 19 with a search warrant.
The fiscal said officers seized 23 items including USB sticks, a laptop, external hard drives and a mobile phone.
He said: “A laptop was found with search terms associated with indecent images of children.”
Further examination found a total of 180 images, including videos and stills downloaded between March 30 and April 19 last year.
One showed an indecent image of a two-year-old girl. Another showed a girl and boy.
Divorced Bryce resigned as a community psychiatric nurse after the offences were discovered.
Bryce was sentenced to three years of community supervision.
He also put the accused on the sex offenders register for three years.
