Pair convicted of child cruelty
James Moore today received an 8 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to child cruelty and ABH on the child in his care.
Moore of Malton pleaded guilty at the first opportunity when he appeared in court back in 2017.
Annie Codling also of Malton received a 45 month prison sentence after pleading guilty to child cruelty and child neglect.
She also pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
The Judge stated that the injuries the child had endured was one of the worst he had seen in nearly 30 years of been a Judge.
He described Moore as a bully, a coward and a liar and a total danger to any children.
Both Moore and Codling blamed each other in police interviews for the injuries the child had received. Neither took the child to hospital for treatment.
Police and Social Services were first called to the house back in 2016 when Codlings child was found wandering the streets at 2am by a local taxi driver.
Both will be monitored on release from prison.
