Former Exmouth Community College teacher sentenced for sexual assault
A former Exmouth teacher has been jailed for sex offences against children more than 50 years ago.
Geoffrey Perryman was given 32 months in prison after he was found guilty of a number of offences he committed whilst he worked at Exmouth Community College.
The 86-year-old was a teacher at the college for more than 20 years, between the 1960s and 1980s.
During this time he systematically targeted young, vulnerable boys aged between 11 and 12, by utilising his position as a football coach and teacher to create environments where he could be alone with his victims and apply pressure on them to do what he wanted.
Perryman, of Kings Meadow Court, Gloucestershire was sentence for two counts gross indecency with a boy under the age of 14, two charges of indecent assault on boy under 14 and one count of inciting a boy under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency.
The pensioner was also given a sexual harm prevention order and placed onto the sex offenders register when he was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court today (Thursday).
