Married man had sick images of kids on computer his grandchildren also used
A man who had a sick stash of indecent images of kids on a computer his grandchildren had access to has avoided jail.
Married Raymond Turnbull, who had previously served for 20 years in the Armed Forces, was found to have the vile photos and videos on two hard drives in his Newcastle home.
As previously reported on Chroniclelive, police executed a search warrant at the 60-year-old’s address in Fawdon in January last year and seized a number of electrical devices.
Officers discovered 506 indecent images or videos of youngsters, including 94 category A, which are the most serious kind and involve penetrative sexual activity.
Prosecutors said that 16 extreme pornographic videos were also found, which showed women with animals.
Turnbull, of Fawdon Park Road, Fawdon, had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme porn and was sent to Newcastle Crown Court for sentence, where he appeared on Wednesday.
Giving him a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, Judge Simon Batiste said: “There are aggravating features. They included moving images and the relative youth of the children involved.
“You were also using a computer accessed by your children and grandchildren.”
The court heard police searched Turnbull’s home on January 24 last year and discovered the images and videos on two hard drives after seizing a number of electrical devices.
Jolyon Perks, prosecuting, added: “The internet browser of the exhibits showed a browsing history using a search for underage or teenage porn sites.”
When Turnbull was interviewed by police he initially denied downloading indecent pictures of videos of children and claimed he only had an interest in adult porn.
But, after he was presented with evidence of what had been discovered on his hard drives, Turnbull confessed.
As well as the suspended sentence, Turnbull was made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for the same period of time.
Married Fawdon man caught with vile images of girls as young as seven
A married man was caught with a sick stash of more than 500 indecent images of children, with some including girls as young as seven.
As well as the vile photos, pervert Raymond Turnbull was also found to have extreme porn videos, which showed women with animals.
Officers from Northumbria Police’s Online Paedophile Investigation Team executed a search warrant at the 60-year-old’s Newcastle home in January last year and seized his computer and a hard drive.
Magistrates were told the devices contained 506 indecent images of children, including 94 category A pictures – the most serious kind involving penetrative sexual activity – portraying girls as young as seven.
Officers also found 16 videos of extreme pornography that showed women with a “variety of animals”, prosecutors said.
Now, Turnbull, of Fawdon Park Road, Fawdon, Newcastle, is facing a jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme porn.
James Palmer, prosecuting at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, said officers executed a search warrant at Turnbull’s home on January 24 2017.
He said: “It was Northumbria Police’s Online Paedophile Investigation Team and they seized a computer and hard drive and sent them off for analysis.
“They recovered 94 category A images, 88 category B and 324 category C. Sixteen videos of extreme pornography were also found.
“The category A offences relates to photos of seven-year-old girls in penetrative sexual activity.”
Magistrates deemed that their powers were insufficient to finalise the case and they sent Turnbull to Newcastle Crown Court or sentence.
He was released on unconditional bail to next appear there on March 14 when Turnbull’s defence will make full submissions.
