Pervert snared by paedophile hunters for SECOND time
Pervert Phillip Browne was caught by paedophile hunters – for the SECOND time in a year.
The 38-year-old was jailed for 12 months after he sent photos of his genitals to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl and asked her to run away with him.
But soon after his release the defendant contacted another ’13-year-old girl’ called Jodie, who was in fact a member of the ‘Defending the Innocent’ group.
He bragged about living near to Waterworld and arranged to meet the ‘youngster’ at Hanley bus station.
However, when he arrived he was instead met by two members of the group who called the police.
The defendant told the men he had been speaking to four others online.
Prosecutor Hugh McKee said a paedophile hunter, a member of the ‘Defending the Innocent’ group, set up a decoy account of Jodie and left it dormant on dating site, Meet For You, and WhatsApp.
Browne made contact with Jodie on September 24.
Mr McKee said: “Even though he knew the person he was speaking to was aged 13 he continued to contact her.
“He suggested Jodie gave him a number for WhatsApp and she provided it. He said he was bored and lonely and was doing his forklift licence.
“He said he lived near Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent. He said he had previously had a girlfriend called Jodie. He asked if she could come to his flat and asked her to send him a picture of her.
“He sent her a picture of his provisional driving licence. He arranged to meet her on September 25 and gave her a postcode for Hanley bus station.
Browne, of High Street, Silverdale, pleaded guilty to attempting to engage a child to engage in sexual activity; attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and attempting to breach a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The five year SHPO will remain in place and Browne will be on the sex offenders’ register
Paedophile hunters snare pervert who asked ’13-year-old girl’ to run away with him
Pervert Phillip Browne was snared by a paedophile hunter who set up a fake profile of a ‘13-year-old girl’ online.
The 37-year-old defendant contacted a child on the ‘Meet For You’ site despite, a member of Team Hunters, making it clear she was underage
He suggested they transferred to WhatsApp and sent pictures of his genitals and asked her to send nude photos of herself.
He told her he would like to have a relationship so he could teach her about sex.
Browne then asked her to stay in a hotel and run away with him.
But members of the group visited the defendant at his home and exposed him on Facebook which led to his arrest.
Prosecutor Neil Ahuja said the team set up a fake profile of a 13-year-old girl on social media and dating site ‘Meet For You’.
Mr Ahuja said: “She was saying she was aged 13. The defendant, using his profile ‘Phillip37’, began to communicate with the profile in November.
“The communication moved to WhatsApp and the decoy communicated with him from November 5 to November 16.
“He sent messages of a sexual nature. He asked her to send nude photos of herself. She told him she was not allowed as she was only 13 and her mother would not let her.
“He also sent pictures of his genital area and asked if they could have a relationship. He told her he would teach her sex. He asked her to stay in a hotel with him and to run away with him. He frequently encouraged her to send pictures of herself.
Browne, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.
Recorder John Butterfield QC made Browne the subject of a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
The judge said: “The communication lasted approximately 12 days and was sexualised in nature. You sent indecent photos, you requested indecent photos of her and you requested real world meetings.”
