Pervert jailed and branded a danger to young girls
A Chelmsley Wood pervert was jailed and branded a danger to young girls after he filmed himself having sex with an underage teen in a Travelodge hotel room.
Former trucker Paul Cotton tied up and blindfolded the 15-year-old and recorded her without her knowledge.
Police had earlier found another girl, of the same age, in bed at his address after she had run away from home.
Officers also discovered dozens of pictures of the two teenagers and other girls, some as young as 13.
Jailing the 45-year-old for seven years at Warwick Crown Court, a judge said Cotton was old enough to have been their father.
Judge Sylvia de Bertodano told him: “This sort of behaviour has very, very serious effects on young children.
“They have been subjected to behaviour which will have an emotional effect on the rest of their lives.
You persistently targeted young and under-age girls on the internet.
“I have no doubt there is a significant risk of serious harm by you, in particular to young girls, by the commission of further serious specified offences.”
Father-of-three Cotton, of Lowerstack Croft, Chelmsley Wood, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two charges of taking indecent images of a child, and seven of possessing indecent images of children.
He will serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before being considered for release.
He will then be on licence for the rest of the term and a further eight years.
Cotton will also be registered as a sex offender for life.
Graeme Simpson, prosecuting, said Cotton originally denied all of the charges, and only admitted his guilt at a pre-trial hearing.
He was prosecuted after police found the runaway girl in his bed in the early hours of the morning in July 2015.
Cotton, who had not been found in bed with her, was banned from having any contact with her.
Mr Simpson said he faced no direct charges in relation to that girl as she would not co-operate with police.
But he said officers found pictures of her naked or in underwear on one of three phones they seized.
The phones and a memory stick also contained indecent pictures of other girls, aged 13 to 15, the court heard.
Cotton told police he looked at all kinds of pornography and was “well into” bondage, power and control.
Detectives later traced three girls after reviewing the seized images.
One, a schoolgirl from Essex, was just 14 when Cotton contacted her in 2013 via Facebook.
She sent him naked pictures and, when she was 15, was taken to a Travelodge in the county and recorded without her knowledge as they had sex as she wore a blindfold.
